Vote for Nikki

Nikki has both a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Otago. Before entering Parliament as your electorate MP she worked in both the public and private sector. Nikki has held roles in the United Kingdom at the Halifax Bank of Scotland, Transport for London, and in Social Services. She was also employed while still studying as a researcher in the New Zealand Parliament.

Recently Nikki became the Deputy Chair of the Government Administration Select Committee. She is also a member of the Local Government and Environment Select Committee and the Auckland Governance Legislation Select Committee.

Delivering for Auckland

  • Nikki is a powerful advocate for the interests of Auckland within the National led government.

Hard working

  • In the last three years Nikki has handled more than 8000 constituency cases in Auckland Central and been involved with at least three hundred local community groups and organisations.

Collaborative

  • Sitting on two cross party groups on adoption law reform and open government Nikki works collaboratively across the political spectrum.
  • Initiated the Auckland Mardi Gras concept that has now become the Auckland Pride Festival.
  • Actively working with the Mayor and the new Auckland Council as the interface with Central Government on issues such as the CBD master plan.

Environmental Champion

  • Launched the “Thrash the Trash” waste management campaign for the city.
  • Successfully opposed mining on Great Barrier Island.
  • Staunch advocate of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park and has called for a review of the legislation.
  • Together with the Auckland Blue Greens responsible for the Meola Creek restoration project.

Delivering for New Zealand

  • Instrumental on Parliament’s Auckland Governance Committee delivering one council for Auckland.
  • Working on the select committee on key environmental legislation including Resource Management Act reform.

Projects and Progress

  • Strong supporter of Auckland’s CBD rail link.
  • Advocate for a Western Bays tram link.
  • Called for a review of the legislation protecting the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.
