It was great to attend the opening night of ‘The Pohutukawa Tree’ performance on Saturday at the Maidment Theatre.

It was a stunning production by the Auckland Theatre Company and an immensely powerful performance by Rena Owen.

I highly recommend and encourage people to attend this production. For more information see the Auckland Theatre Company website here.

The Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean-up Week kicked off over the weekend and hundreds were out in force to pitch in. I attended the launch of the event at Mechanics Bay on the Wharf and also the main event – the “Keep Waiheke Beautiful” Clean-up. It was a stunning day and I was joined by Environment Minister Nick Smith and also a mysterious caped clean-up enforcer.

Sir George Grey Special Collections – Renaming Celebration

5:45pm

Auckland City Library held a special celebration on Thursday for the renaming of the special collections holding area to the “Sir George Grey Special Collections”, in recognition of his life and achievements.

I was delighted to attend this event along with the Mayor, Councillor Goldsmith, and Ngati Whatua and join in the celebrations.

I met some of the great staff of the Auckland City Library who are dedicated to this work and it was a real honour to be a part of it.
