I recently had the pleasure of attending the Auckland Lantern Festival with the Prime Minister, John Key, and my Parliamentary colleagues Peseta Sam Lotu-liga, Dr Jian Yang and Alred Ngao. The Lantern Festival has been a highlight of the Auckland event calendar for 13 years now, and is held on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar Calendar.
This year the festival celebrated the Year of the Dragon, an auspicious year in the Chinese Zodiac.
The Lantern Festival is just another example of the great mix of culture that we enjoy in Auckland, and I was very pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of it.
